FAQ
At this time, San Gabriel Reds is focused exclusively on offering high-quality stud services. While we have plans to expand our program in the future, our current priority is providing carefully selected breedings through our male, Tuna.
What does San Gabriel Reds offer?
What is a Fox Red Labrador?
A Fox Red Labrador is simply a darker shade of the traditional Yellow Labrador Retriever. They are recognized by the AKC as yellow labs, just with a rich, deep red coat. Beyond their striking color, we prioritize temperament, health, and structure above all else.
Do you offer natural breeding or shipped semen?
We offer shipped fresh/chilled semen and can discuss natural breeding options based on your needs and location. Timing is critical for success, so we highly recommend progesterone testing to ensure the best possible outcome.
Where are you located?
We are located in Texas, raising our dogs on our property where they have room to explore, play, and thrive in a natural environment.
What is required for a successful breeding?
For shipped semen, proper timing is everything. We ask that progesterone testing (reported in ng/ml) is performed and that you stay in close communication with us throughout the process so we can coordinate collection and shipping effectively.
Do you guarantee a litter?
We guarantee the mating or shipment of semen as agreed upon; however, we do not guarantee pregnancy or litter size, as many factors are outside of our control.
What happens if the breeding is unsuccessful?
In the event of an unsuccessful breeding, we offer a repeat breeding. While the stud fee may be waived, all additional costs (such as shipping, collection, and veterinary expenses) remain the responsibility of the bitch owner.
Who is responsible for shipping costs?
The bitch owner is responsible for all shipping-related expenses, including shipping boxes, extenders, and carrier fees. These details will be clearly outlined prior to breeding so there are no surprises.
Are you responsible for shipping delays or issues?
While we carefully coordinate every shipment, we cannot be responsible for delays, loss, or complications that may occur during transit once the semen has been shipped.
Do you have requirements for puppies produced from Tuna?
Yes—maintaining the integrity of the breed is extremely important to us. We do not support breeding for dilute traits. Puppies produced from Tuna should go to homes or programs that align with these values, and those not retained for breeding should be placed on Limited Registration.
Will you offer puppies in the future?
Yes—expanding our program is part of our long-term vision. We have plans to offer puppies in late 2026/early 2027.
How do I get started?
The best way to get started is to reach out to us directly. We love connecting with like-minded breeders and are happy to answer questions, review your female, and walk through the process together.
